The Intel E40GSFP-SR is an optical module specifically engineered to meet the demands of high-bandwidth, short-range applications. It is compliant with the 40GBASE-SR4 standard, which dictates the use of four independent lanes, each transmitting at $\approx 10$ Gbps, for an aggregate 40 Gbps data rate.
